Energy label

An energy label is a document that provides information about the energy condition of a property and is required by law when selling residential and certain commercial properties.

Energy labeling has two purposes

  • The label should make the building’s energy consumption visible and act as a product declaration when a building is sold or rented out.
  • The label should provide an overview of energy improvements that are profitable to implement: What they are, what they cost to implement and how much savings can be achieved on electricity and heating bills.
The energy label can also be used for
Sizing a new heat pump, as a heat pump should neither be too small nor too large to be energy efficient.
Optimizing a retrofit, i.e. what does it pay to retrofit.
To optimize heat pump incl. insulation based on an overall assessment.
